The time people go to bed determines a lot about their personality. For example, a busy entrepreneur may enjoy an early night's sleep, helping prepare his mind for the following day's challenges.
To understand what time most hit the sack, we conducted a study that involved over 1000 people.
In this brief article, I'm going to break down the different times that people go to bed. I'll also highlight the benefits of getting an early night's sleep.
Our Survey Results
As of writing this article, my survey has 1053 votes. Shockingly, the data seems to be spread out across multiple times.
- 8:00 PM - 9.00 PM (7%)
- 9:00 PM - 10:00 PM (12%)
- 10:00 PM - 11:00 PM (15%)
- 11:00 PM - 12:00 AM (10%)
- 12:00 AM - 1:00 AM (14%)
- 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM (10%)
- 2:00 AM - 3:00 AM (7%)
- 3:00 AM - 4:00 AM (6%)
As you can see, most people go to sleep between 10:00 PM- 11:00 PM (15%), closely followed by 14% of voters going to bed between 12:00 AM - 1:00 AM. You'll then find 12% of people hitting the sack between 9:00 PM - 10:00 PM and 20% between 11:00 PM - 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM - 2:00 AM.
Who Sleeps When?
In most cases, older people tend to sleep earlier, whereas younger people enjoy staying up late, playing games, listening to music, and watching movies. You also need to take into account people's work schedules.
Some people, such as bartenders, work late into the night. By the time they get home and have a shower, it's already 2:00 AM.
Of course, these numbers aren't set in stone. There may be some young people that enjoy sleeping earlier.
What Time Should You Go To Bed?
If you're lucky enough to choose the time you go to sleep, the earlier, the better. Have you ever woken up at midday and felt unmotivated after a late-night!? You feel this way because you've already missed half of the day.
On the flip side, an early rise increases motivation and excitement for the day ahead. However, to wake up early, you need to go to bed early.
The majority of people go to bed between 10:00 PM - 11:00 PM. If you're wondering what time to go to sleep, earlier would be my recommendation. Going to sleep earlier means you'll wake up earlier and feel more motivated.
