Can you change to military time on an iPhone? Yes, you can!

It's very simple to switch to the 24-hour clock on an iPhone or iPad using the General, Date & Time settings.

Changing to military time will automatically change the time shown on your lock screen, home screen, Calendar, and in the Clock app on your Alarm page. It may also change the time shown in some other apps, particularly those owned by Apple.

Read our simple tutorial below on how to change to military time on an iPhone (and how to turn it off) if you prefer to use the 24-hour clock on your iPhone instead of a 12-hour clock.

How to Enable Military Time On an iPhone

Most iPhones have military time as the default setting, but it depends on what region you bought the smartphone in.

If your iPhone doesn't show military time and uses the 12-hour clock instead, you can switch on military time on an iPhone quickly and easily.

Here's how to enable military time on an iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll to or Search for General
  3. Tap General
  4. Scroll to Date & Time
  5. Tap Date & Time
  6. Toggle 24-Hour Time on (which will turn the toggle green instead of grey)

You can follow the same process to turn on military time on an iPad.

How to Turn Off Military Time On an iPhone

It's just as easy to turn off military time on an iPhone as it is to turn it on.

Turning off military time (or the 24-hour clock) on an iPhone will turn on the 12-hour clock instead.

Here's how to turn off military time on an iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll to or Search for General
  3. Tap General
  4. Scroll to Date & Time
  5. Tap Date & Time
  6. Toggle 24-Hour Time off (which will turn the toggle grey instead of green)

You can follow the same steps to turn off military time on an iPad.

How to Change an Apple Calendar to the 24-Hour Clock

You can easily change the Apple Calendar app to show the 24-hour clock instead of the 12-hour clock.

When changing the Calendar time on an iPhone, it will also change all your time settings to military time (also known as the 24-hour clock in the US).

For example, your lock screen, home screen, and Alarm settings will show as the 24-hour clock when you change your Calendar to military time.

Here's how to change an Apple Calendar to the 24-hour clock:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll to or Search for General
  3. Tap General
  4. Scroll to Date & Time
  5. Tap Date & Time
  6. Toggle 24-Hour Time on (which will turn the toggle green instead of grey)

To turn off the 24-hour clock on an Apple Calendar, simply toggle 24-Hour Time off (so it turns grey instead of green).

Can an iPhone Show Military Time?

Technically, no, an iPhone doesn't show military time, but it does show 24-hour time instead, which is very similar.

Military time is officially known as the 24-hour clock without the colon.

For example, instead of 19:00 (shown on 24-hour time), military time should be shown as 1900.

Since the iPhone will only show time with the colon, it's not technically military time. But it's known as such in the US and many other regions around the world when using an iPhone.
