When you use an alarm clock, you don't need to use your smartphone, ditching that temptation to scroll the morning away.

Despite their various settings, smartphone alarms are simple. It's why they can't wake everyone up. Some traditional alarm clocks are specialized for waking you up in the morning. For example, some alarms have powerful bed shakers or vibrating wrist alarms that can wake up any deep sleeper.

Alarm clocks are generally simpler than smartphone alarms. Most come with basic settings, like an alarm clock and a snooze button. Depending on the clock you buy, it may not come with anything else, like volume controls, multiple alarms, alternate day alarms, etc. However, these types of alarms are in the minority, as most are well suited to modern life.

Many people believe alarm clocks are better than phone alarms. Even though we are becoming more attached to our phones, we're also realizing the downsides of being so connected.

When you check your phone in the morning, it's easy to feel bogged down by the news, things you've read on social media, and emails from your boss.
