If you want to be the best at jumping, throwing, and running, you need a high-quality stopwatch to track your weekly progress. It's also good to have something that saves your workout times, allowing you to see the progress each week.
In this article, I'm going to review the 5 best stopwatches for track and field. You will learn about what makes these stopwatches the best. You'll also discover some things I don't like about them.
However, before I get into the article, my top pick is the Rolilink Stopwatch. It comes with all the essential functions for track and field and has a shockproof case in case you drop it.
Why I'm Qualified
Having studied different clocks over the years, I've learned how to choose the best ones, and stopwatches are no different. As well as extensive research, I also developed an online stopwatch tool.
When writing this article, I used my own knowledge combined with previous customer experiences to provide you with the most up-to-date and accurate information.

Rolilink Stopwatch
Best Feature: Includes Heavy-Duty Case
If you want a fully customizable stopwatch for track and field, the Rolilink won't let you down. You have the option to set the timer for different intervals.
For example, If you were timing different running intervals, it will reset after each interval and display how many cycles have been completed.
What's more, it has a heavy-duty case that keeps the stopwatch protected when dropped. Attached to the case is a lanyard that goes around your neck, preventing the stopwatch from getting lost.
The display is also large enough for most people to read. Not only that, but it also displays the time and date. I like this feature because it lets you know how long you (or your team) have been training.
That way, you can determine when it's time to finish.
Furthermore, you have the option to turn on the backlight; however, it only stays on for 3-second intervals. This means if you're training in the dark, you'll have to press the button every time you want to check the display screen and change the settings.
In my opinion, this is a major design flaw by Rolilink and something I would like to see changed in future models.
Also, while detailed, the instruction manual's print is too small to read without glasses.
Pros:
- Customizable and accurate timing
- Heavy-duty case to prevent damage
- Comes with a lanyard
- The display screen is large enough to read
- Comes with a backlight
Cons:
- Backlight can only be operated in 3-second intervals
- The instruction manual text is too small to read
PULIVIA Sports Stopwatch
Best Feature: Reliable Memory Recall Function
Pulivia has gone above and beyond when creating this stopwatch. Not only does it boast a range of different features, but it's also water-resistant. That means it can withstand splashes and drops of water; however, it can't be fully submerged.
You can choose between four different modes; laps stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm clock, and pace mode.
What's more, you can choose whether it has sound when pressing the buttons.
When the stopwatch ends, it will bleep for 10 seconds, altering that time is up; however, some people said the beeping noise isn't loud enough.
Therefore, this may not be the best stopwatch if there's lots of background noise.
In terms of downsides, I discovered that sometimes this stopwatch arrives with a faulty battery. While the battery can be easily replaced, it's a major inconvenience.
Pros:
- Records your times
- Multiple different modes
- Water-resistant
- Bleeps for 10 seconds
- Choose between noise or silent mode
Cons:
- Some customers received it with a faulty battery
- The beeping sound isn't super loud
Casio HS-80TW-1EF Digital Black Stopwatch
Best Feature: Large and Clear Display
If you're looking for a heavy-duty stopwatch that can withstand pressure, the Casio Digital Stopwatch is your best friend. It's made from Resin and has multiple functions that make it great for running.
One of these functions is the ability to time each lap. That means if you're running five miles, you can set the timer to record your time at each lap. Using this function won't cause the stopwatch to stop recording your overall time.
It also has lap memory. Lap memory lets you record certain times and save them for future reference. I really like this feature because it allows you to keep track of your fastest times and try to beat them in the future.
When it comes to the design, it's perfect for running. With some stopwatches, the buttons can be flimsy, causing them to be pushed accidentally while in your pocket. You won't have that issue with this stopwatch, as the buttons require a slight pressure to function.
So how about the downsides?
I discovered the only way to change the battery is by going to an authorized Casio distributor. With that being said, it does last up to 5 years, so don't worry about it too much.
Also, the lanyard isn't detachable, which can be an inconvenience for some people.
Pros:
- Durable and long-lasting
- Has a lap split function
- Built-in lap memory
- Feels comfortable in your hand
Cons:
- Battery needs to be replaced by Casio distributor after 5 years
- The lanyard isn't detachable
QWM Professional Timer Stopwatch
Best Feature: Lots of Mode Options
Similar to the BizoeRade Stopwatch, this one is also silent. With that being said, you don't have the option to change between silent and normal mode, which is a bit of a letdown.
The LED screen is large enough to read without glasses; however, it doesn't have a backlight, rendering it useless in the dark.
This is a major design flaw I'd love to see fixed in future models.
What's more, many customers were complaining that it arrived with a dead battery. If you do decide to purchase this stopwatch, make sure you've got a spare CR2032 battery. Otherwise, you may have to go and purchase one!
It's also water-resistant. This is good because it prevents damage from excessive sweating.
And track and field involves lots of sweating, right!?
Pros:
- Water-resistant to protect against sweat
- Silent when pressing buttons
- Large and easy to read LED screen
- Records your previous times
- Multiple different modes
Cons:
- Doesn't have a backlight that can be used in the dark
- Many customers complaining it arrived with a dead battery
ACCUSPLIT AX725 Dual Line 16 Memory Pro Stopwatch
Best Feature: Water-Resistant Up to 30 Metres
The ACCUSPLIT AX725 is easy to set up and has a large display that's easy to read. As well as a large display screen, this stopwatch also comes with 5-year battery life. This means you won't have to worry about it running out of battery during track and field practice.
Unless, of course, you've had it for five years!
What's more, it comes with a black lanyard to prevent it from getting lost.
If you don't like the standard black color it comes in; you can choose between red, blue, green, or yellow. It's worth mentioning that regardless of which color you choose, the lanyard will be black.
Similar to the QWM Stopwatch, this one doesn't make a noise when being used. Unfortunately, there isn't an option to activate the noise feature.
Also, it doesn't have a backlight, making it impossible to use in the dark.
However, it is water-resistant up to 30 meters, so you won't have to worry about sweat damaging this stopwatch. In fact, why not take it swimming with you after track and field practice?
Pros:
- Large easy to read display
- 5-year battery life
- Black lanyard, so it doesn't get lost
- Multiple color options to choose from
- Water-resistant up to 30 meters
Cons:
- Doesn't have a backlight
- Doesn't have an option to activate the button noise
How To Choose the Best Stopwatches for Track and Field
Waterproof or Water-Resistant
When practicing for track and field, you're going to be sweating buckets. That's why you need a stopwatch that's water-resistant or waterproof.
If you go for a water-resistant stopwatch, it will be able to handle splashes of water and sweat.
On the flip side, a waterproof stopwatch can be submerged underwater without getting damaged.
If you're only using the stopwatch for track and field, then water resistance works fine.
Battery
The last thing you want is to be changing batteries every few months. That's why it's important to choose a stopwatch that has a reliable battery. In most cases, lithium batteries last between 2-3 years; however, some can last up to 5 years.
Accuracy
If you've used stopwatches before, then you're probably aware that some are more accurate than others. If you want to take your track and field to the next level, make sure you get something that's accurate.
Otherwise, your timings will be skewed.
And who wants that, right!?
Display screen
When choosing a stopwatch for track and field, it's important to get a one with a large display screen. This way, you'll be able to keep track of everything easily.
This becomes even more prominent if you require glasses.
Also, it's good to have a built-in backlight with your stopwatch. Otherwise, you won't be able to see it in the dark.
Of course, this isn't essential, providing you're only going to be using it during the day.
Final Verdict
If you want to take your track and field to the next level, it's important to purchase a high-quality stopwatch. Your phone may do the trick; however, nothing beats a stopwatch that has a variety of different settings.
To recap, I recommend the Rolilink Stopwatch as my top choice. It's reliable, durable, and has everything you need for track and field.
